Learning to Live Again

my personal journey of loss and faith

I wanted to share my personal thoughts, feelings, and insights on my journey as a new widow. I lost my husband of 28 years after a tragic accident while he was fighting a fire.

When God's plan isn't the same as yours

I've spent my life as a planner. I like to know what is going to happen, where I'm heading, and as many details as I can. I plan vacations, financial goals, even when I am retiring. I also know that my plans mean nothing if they are not in line with God's plan. My plans came to a screeching halt on August 10, 2018. On that day God decided that He needed Maddy and my life started on a path I never thought I would travel. He left the house to fight a fire as a volunteer firefighter, but he would never return.

I wanted to create a space for me to share my thoughts and experiences on this new journey down the path God has for me. If anything I say or anything I go through will help someone else, then this time has been worth it. I know it will help me to get my feelings down.
